The film; “Wanderers”

This week, I express what I felt on this film and what I thought about the short film “Wanderers” created by Erik Wernquist, a digital artist and animator from Stockholm, Sweden.

What I felt on this film and what I thought about

Carl Sagan is one of the my most admiring scientists so I am very glad to hear his voice in our English class. In the line of the film, from the “Pale Blue Dot”, he is suggesting that we humans are driven to explore the space by our deep intuition as “wanderers” which is passed down through generations to generations. The most impressive part of this film is the magnificent scenery of the solar system, destination of the dreamlike human expansion into the space which is beyond out current technological and biological limits. There are several technologies which is never realized in the real world in this film. First, how to build such a big spaceship appearing in the first sceine of the departure of migrants from the earth? Second, how can astronauts, or passengers, are able to endure severe radiation environment of the space, especially near the Jupiter? Third, how to dig such a pig hole penetrating an asteroid which is large enough for humans to live in? There are a lot of such future like technologies in this films, but I never mind. We are not able to imagine the technologies in the fur future because the technology are developing so rapidly. Who knows the the form of spaceships one hundred years later will be?

At the same time dreaming our brilliant future, Carl Sagan suggests in his another book “Billions and Billions” that humans are not maturing as rapid as our technologies. We make nuclear weapons, destroy the environment of our planet, and creating causes of the global warming. Though, there are some improvements, as the USA and Soviet stop the cold war, measures are adopted to reduce the emission of CFC, Chloral flour carbon, in a world conference. If we continue such world wide efforts, though it is very difficult to cooperate with another countries with another interests, we may be able to continue “wandering”.
