This is the theme of this week's post. We made a plan for a dinner party. Each of us will invite our four most admiring people so the ten people will be on the seats. We would like to introduce our guests for you.
1.Our guests
The four guests Kaminaga invited below;Carl Sagan (11.9.1934 ~ 12.20.1934)
He was an American astronomer and science fiction writer who taught at Cornel University. He propelled exobiology and searching for extraterrestrial intelligences, or “SETI”. It was him who proposed to load a disk made of gold on the probes, “voyager 1” and “voyager 2”. On the disk, there are messages for extraterrestrial intelligences whom these two probes will perhaps encounter after its long term journey. In his books and TV programs, he appealed the importance of skeptical thinking on pseudoscience and explained the necessity of real science to not only scientists but also ordinary people. The correct understanding of science is necessary to protect the fragile environment of the earth.
ŸSir Ather Charles Clarke (16.12.1917 ~ 19.3.2008)
He is a science fiction writer who was born in the UK. He was said to be one of the “Big three” of SF writers, other two are Isaac Asimov and Robert Anson Heinlein. His masterpiece “2001: A Space voyage” is made into a movie of the same name. The movie director of the film was Stanley Kubrick. He is attracted by not only in the space but also in oceans so he left some works related to the oceans. The “Dolphin Island” is my favorite one.

星新一 (Shinich Hoshi) (6.9.1926 ~ 30.12.1997)
He is a Japanese SF writer. He is writing short short stories. short short story is a genre of novels which is unique with the ideas of the stories and punch lines. In his works, there are few specific nouns like place, names of people. This gives his works universality. Anyone can experience for themselves what the people in his stories goes through.
正岡子規 (Shiki Masaoka) (14.10.1867 ~ 19.9.1902)
He was a Japanese haiku composer, poet, and Japanese classical scholar. He is one of the most famous literary men during the Meiji era. When he was 27, he went to Liaodong peninsular, China, as one of the war correspondent. When he was returning to Japan, he had a terrible lung hemorrhage and his tuberculosis deteriorated. Both of them is familiar with space.
Second pair: Shinichi Hoshi - Shiki Masaoka
Both of them is a writer.
Third pair: Hayao Miyazaki - Steve Jobs
They fascinated all over the world even if their way are different.
Fourth pair: Arthur C. Clark - Fujiko F. Fujio

3.Time and placePlace
Place: Japan, where Mt.Fuji can be seen
I choose this country because fifth of our eight guests are Japanese and the three have visited Japan. May be for all guests, Japan is a comfortable place.
Time: Autumn
There are two reasons why we decided to hold a dinner party in autumn. Furst, autumn has a comfortable atmosphere. For example, Masaoka Shiki made a haiku featuring autumn scenery of Kyoto;
"柿食えば
鐘が鳴るなり
法隆寺"
( "kakikuhe ba kane ga narunari horyuuji")
English translation below;
"Eat a persimmon
And the bell will toll
At Horyuji"
This haiku gives us a very relaxing impression of autumn. We want our guests to feel comfortable and relaxed.
Second, the autumn is said to be a good season for reading as "Dokusho no aki", meaning that the autumn is a good season for reading. We have writers in our guests so the autumn is suitable for them. May be the iPad will be a good tool for reading e-books.
Dishes: Japanese cuisine
Health is very important and Japanese dishes are healthy. That's why.
